The Good Old Days
I remember hearing discussions years ago when I was a child about the good old days. I'm hearing them again and actually longing for them but they have gone and I fear forever.
If someone would have told me in the 50s that it would be legal to murder little babies I would have walked away from them thinking them nuts. They were not. It is legal as we know.
If someone would have told me that two men or two women could "marry", I would have looked at them like they had just landed from some other planet.
Today it seems that what was once wrong is now right and what was right is now wrong. Political correctness has overtaken our common sense to a degree that it is totally disgusting. We're going down the drain as a Nation and world and most people with any common sense at all know it. It appears that man will continue this journey dragging everyone along until God intervenes. I believe He will in a dramatic way particularly now that the sin or Pride dominates in claims and aspirations of 'creating' new human lifeforms. That makes man like God Who is the only One Who can create (make out of nothing).
I am amazed that we want to create new life while destroying the life already being born. Anyone know why?
Abortion has become the 'remedy' for those who are sexually active for the most part and decide that a pregnancy is an inconvenience they simply cannot live with. Yes, there are sadly rape pregnancies and others but all-in-all, the majority are the result of sexual promiscuity.
Homosexuals are clamouring for rights...to marry, obtain marital benefits, impose their lifestyles on all aspects of our culture including the military and further divide the society in general which has as its core the nuclear family consisting of one man, one women and children who are the result of marriage.
Churches are emptying and Christians in fact elected the most pro-abortion President this country has ever known. Christians - followers or claimed followers of Jesus Christ. He will, I feel certain, bring this up again to each soul that did so and appears before Him at their particular judgment. No lawyers, no advocates, nobody to plead for us for our voting pro-choice directly or through tacit consent - just us and Him alone.
The good old days that I recall, and they really were, saw families as a unit, meals taken together, playing together and going to church together. Life was simpler for sure. Bread and milk were delivered fresh to our house everyday. Butcher shops, bakeries in the neighborhood with fresh goods, hucksters selling fresh vegetables from their own farms...no food recalls then. No fears of what one was purchasing or cooking either.
Televisions, radios, appliances and autos were made here in the USA. Jobs were plentiful and everyone worked when they turned 16 while attending real schools and having real homework. Somehow, we talked to each other directly and lacked the cell phone, texting, computers and all the other ilk that has made us all individuals in a crowd.
We were a United States then not like today where we have become a conglomerate of individuals and special groups each with a personal agenda. There was a societal conscience, a morality and it did not have to be written into law. There were no legal sordid movies, videos, music or other media garbage to taint the minds of our young. There was no such thing as seductive dress or piercings and body tatoos. We respected ourselves and each other. Yes, there were ethnic neighborhoods which made up the mosaic of a wonderful landscape.
For the Catholic, life centered around the parish and school. Nuns looked like Nuns in habits and garnered deep respect unlike today when you wouldn't know most Nuns if you fell over them. Priests dressed like Priests and were spiritual men dedicated to serving their parishioners unlike many today who attend liberal seminaries and religious houses. Mass was sacred and there was silence in church because we knew Who was there. We were in God's house.
Life as it was once is gone forever unfortunately. The mannerisms and behaviors of adults and especially young people today are so far off the mark that it will never correct itself. The envelope keeps getting pushed closer and closer to the edge and one day, will fall off the table to the floor to be trampled by the masses. How sad.
Our once great Nation has lost forever the moral conscience of its founders. Everyday almost there is news of some new undertaking, another rip in the fabric of our moral code. It will most likely continue. For those who hold fast to their faith, stay active attending Mass and going to Confession, say the Rosary and Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and so on, there is the hope of Heaven despite of what is happening here on Earth. This is not our home; there's a much better one awaiting us all if we are faithful to Our Lord.
As a sidebar, the fact that 54 percent of Catholics voted for the current President knowing that he had a pro-choice stance and has been and is now consistantly appointing pro-choice members of his administration places direct blame on each of those Catholic voters for each and every baby that is killed through abortion. Through tacit consent, each voter gave full assent of their will to this tragedy. Each by virtue of the act itself is latae sententiae excommunicated - no Bishop has to declare such. It happens automatically beween God and the soul. God of course is merciful and forgiving but He requires total repentance and a change of heart. That change of heart appears to be totally lacking since a recent poll from the Pew Foundation indicates that 60 percent of Catholics believe the current President is doing a good job. This clearly indicates a lack of remorse and the requisite contrition in order to be forgiven. They are in a state of serious sin with eternal consequences should they pass in that state to the next life without having received Sacramental Confession.
So, while people are pleased with the way things are going currently, let them understand well that one day, each will stand face-to-face with Jesus and give a full account of their earthly actions. Then it is too late; there are no excuses; no explanation of actions which states that 'there were other issues besides abortion...' will stand. Nothing individually or collectively outside of abortion is more serious than murdering little babies. Every civilization since man has been on the Earth which killed its own has disappeared and so it will be with the US as well. We may remain as a country but we will fall into the collective of former great Nations. Our era is ending.
If we are still here when God intervenes, and I and many others believe He will and soon, we will only have ourselves to blame for whatever is levied against us as a judgment or chastisement. He has been sorely offended already and enough is enough. Whatever lay in store for us is known only to Him Who is Almighty God. But we can see signs of great unsettlement throughout the land. There is great division within families, society and the Nation. A house divide cannot stand and we will not. We have traded our solid Christian foundation and elected to build our house on sand. The Bible is clear as exactly what happens to any house built on sand.
Be sure the winds will come, not necessarily hurricane winds; the seas will rise and again, not necessarily the seas of oceans and rivers; and know that the God Who sits on His throne in Eternity will not be mocked. Clearly, He dealt with His enemies in the past and He will surely deal with them in the future - at a time known only to Him.
What I would do aside from praying individually is to prepare our families and friends if they will listen. Sadly, I have discovered that most have their minds made up and see all the warnings as just so much 'religious' hype. However, when the action begins, whatever form it takes, they who are so rigid in their minds will soon run screaming looking for answers and help. To whom will they run? Where will they go?
Now is the time to prepare for things have gotten to the point for America where only God can balance the scales. It is clear that man will not do so and in fact, almost daily thumbs his nose in God's face. Pleasure and wealth, security and possessions dominate our Nation.
The Scriptures give us an excellent example of what to do with those who refuse to hear the message of the Gospel. The Apostles complained that in some towns, people refused to listen. Our Lord told them to shake the dust from their sandals and walk away. So it shall be here.
