Can You Feel It?
When I wrote this commentary, I had a heavy heart spiritually speaking. Since writing the article, things have picked up pace it seems. Almost everyone I speak to says the same thing...."There's something in the wind" or "I have an uneasy feeling." Perhaps you too have said these things or heard them too. But what is it? I have a notion that the Holy Spirit and Our Lady are warning us. Within our very souls almost we can hear the sounds of something, but what? I'll throw my two cents in here with what I think is coming. Ever since I read the 1990 prophecy as it is known, reviewed the LaSalette visions and other sources prophetic and secular, I have concluded that the " something big" will not happen all at once. Similar to the 1990 prophecy I too believe what are generally known as chastisements will happen regionally rather than in one place. I further think they could consist of nature gone wild such as earthquakes, tsunamis, economic collapse and a host of problems each of these will bring. We just are not getting it....aborting babbies is a violation of God's law and He will not be mocked, make no mistake about it. If and when He decides to remind us is totally His domain but I don't imagine it will be pleasant or a slap on the wrist. Prayer out of schools and the public forum, increased crime, drugs and alcohol abuse among teens, runaways, so-called gay marriage, and the beat goes on. Just how far America (and much of the rest of the world save a few) will push God remains a mystery. The longer these behaviors continue, the more certain is some kind of punishment. How severe and for how long? Only God knows. In one of his talks, Father John Corapi stated that if America doesn't wake up and stop the baby killing, 9-11 will look like a walk in the park when God steps in. The Church is having some real problems as is well known but Jesus will take care of the Church and those who administer in her. For our part, we need to increase our prayers, visits to the Blessed Sacrament, daily Mass if possible, Sunday Mass for certain (it's still a mortal sin to miss) and other pious acts. Okay....enough of my addendum. Here's the original commentary: Something's in the air...so to speak. I am running into more and more people these days who feel out of balance, afraid, anxious and even depressed over what they perceive as things out of control. Many simply feel something is not right but cannot put their finger on what "it" is. Still, others are quick to note that they believe we are either in or soon to enter the end of the age (not the world). To be sure, almost daily, there is news of more murders, kidnappings, destruction of a complete family by a family member (generally the father but sometimes the mother), and increased levels and intensity of crime.
The Government has many people upset with the huge deficit, proposed healthcare reform, cut backs in programs, and unemployment. Our National debt is off the charts almost. There is an increasing degree of fear over what has been called the Plague of 2009 - the Swine Flu. Scenarios are being presented that millions could die from it, the so-called vaccine is not being properly tested but will be on the masses of people, and perhaps a National state of emergency declared like martial law. People are scared mostly while others think it's all a hoax. The fall flu season will tell who is right.
Many think we are on the verge of a nuclear war perhaps not directly involving us but the fallout will certainly affect everyone as the radiation moves around the globe.
Many are asking what they should do about the conditions we see today in our Country and world. Prayer seems to be the sole solution beginning with Holy Mass and Communion daily if you are able. At the very least watch it on EWTN daily but do not forget Sunday Mass in person.
Visits to the Most Blessed Sacrament are excellent. You don't need to recite a lot of prayers or any at all for just being in His Presence is enough. Tell Him how you feel, your concerns, anxieties and fears.
The daily (yes daily) Rosary - more as you have time is a must.
The Chaplet of the Seven Dolors (Sorrows) of Our Lady of Sorrows. She has asked for it and you will find it very comforting for both Our Lady and yourself. Mothers in particular can relate to this devotion especially if they have children. Mary's Son went through His passion and death and Mary was always at His side although she could do nothing. What Mother would abandon her son at such a horrible time?
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 PM and as many are discovering because they happen to awaken at 3 AM, say another. If you fall asleep don't worry.
Use of Holy Water, Blessed Salt, wearing the Brown Scapular and having some holy pictures (especially the two Hearts) and an image of the Divine Mercy are highly recommended. Wearing Saint Benedict Crucifix with the exorcism blessing is an excellent idea. At a minimum, have a medal in your pocket at all times with your Rosary. Don't leave home without them.
Prayers for and to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Saint Michael prayer that used to be said after low Mass before Vatican II. Read how it came about and you'll say it often.
Pray to your Guardian Angel daily and more often throughout the day.
Get to Confession regularly (about every four weeks - sooner if needed). Don't put it off.
Many of my non-Catholic friends read this website so for them, some of the things recommended above may seem foreign or even contrary to their beliefs. It is important for all to realize that we are Christians first. God reads the human heart and the essentials of believing in Jesus as personal Savior, repentance of sins and living a Christ-centered life are all there.
I know Protestants who say the Rosary since they discovered it is actually taken from prayers in the Bible. Others I know use Holy Water for protection around themselves and their homes. Still others are beginning to recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 PM. God's Name is Mercy and this chaplet simply serves as a reminder of how much He loves us and will be merciful to us if we submit our will to His. Try it, you have nothing to loose and much to gain. It takes about 12 minutes to recite and it could be the best 12 minutes you have even invested.
It is not my intention to 'convert' people from one denomination to Catholic although I would be happy to help those who wish to do so. Again, God knows the human heart. We have One God and Father of all Who so loved us that He sent His Only begotten Son to the Earth with a human body to teach us God's ways and lead us to the Father. He suffered a horrible torture and death finally being nailed to a cross. Why? Simply put, He did it for you and for me. Love does such things.
I will always remember my Methodist Aunt. She was petrified of lightning and thunder storms. When they came, she got out a blessed candle and lit it, sprinkled Holy Water around her house and grabbed and recited the Rosary. She was greatly comforted by these activities. She may not have understood them entirely but she knew she was going to be 'okay' and this too would pass. It always did.
So let's not get hung up on what we may perceive as superstitions and forsake the spiritual benefits that are available in God's arsenal of grace. Do what is comfortable for you but remember, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater simply because this or that is "Catholic." I am Catholic but watch Dr. Charles Stanley and other reputable preachers because I need to be spiritually fed. They do this for me. But I also keep to my Catholic practices as well. What I am saying is grab hold of what the Lord leads you to and do not forsake the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

The "1990 Prophecy" and "2004" Update
"In four years there will arise a new evil the likes of which mankind has never before encountered. It will arrive almost imperceptibly, with few people noticing the depth of its evil, for it will appear to have beneficial and convenient aspects. It is an evil comparable to abortion -- that is to say, that even if evils as great and widespread as abortion were to be eliminated, this is enough of an evil that it would present mankind with an enormous challenge. This evil is being allowed as a test because of the prayers inspired by Mary to put off chastisements. How mankind responds to this new evil will determine the extent, length, and severity of the first chastisements. These chastisements will differ according to regions, and like the great evil, will not always or usually be immediately noticeable for what they are. In the period also will be a warning that involves not fire from the sky but fear of fire from the sky, and strange loud rumblings. This, according to mankind's response, will then be followed by another chastisement, or the inevitable onset of the change of era. Your era is ending. Soon the world will not be the world you know. I am not speaking of a barren world, or one depopulated, but of the end of your technological era. Many inventions of mankind will be broken down and there will be more of a peasant attitude and way of life everywhere. After this breakdown of false society will come persecution of Christians and also a new world order. The anti-christ will be on earth trying to affect the new world order. Hardly anyone will notice the extent of his influence until afterwards. He will not be of tremendous visibility until he is accomplished. That is to say, he will not rule, control, and be at all obvious to the world at the peak of his influence. He will not be unlike a figure such as Marx, except his ideas will be more immediate.

It has been fourteen years now since that reputed (and still anonymous) "revelation," which seemed to be from the Lord. For the first time since, there has come a new locution from the same source and in the same fashion -- strikingly similar, and if nothing else, food for thought. We'll let you decide. It was reportedly received in the early morning hour of December 22 and reads as follows:
"There is going to be a major disruption in a region of the world that will affect everyone. The world is now seriously out of conformance with the Will of God and what He created and intended. There are those who would reconfigure the very creatures He has formed, and who meddle with the texture of life. For this reason, the Lord will allow a huge reorientation. If not for the action of Heaven, what God has created on earth will soon be damaged beyond recovery. A very dramatic effect already is in progress as regards the support structures of what man calls nature. Such cannot be allowed to take the final realization of total realignment when it comes to the very way elements and life forces interact. The event to come will surprise everyone who has offered a prognostication, and will show even recalcitrant scientists, though not all, that there is a fundamental alarm in Heaven over their arrogant and wayward course. Nothing that is artificial in a way that disrupts what God intended will be allowed to stand.
"Heed this too: the politics of denial will be struck as with a plague.
"The smallest of what lives is precious in My sight.
"The angels have their instruction from east to west, and now a timetable has been set in motion.
"When the huge light is seen, I will act in a way I have not acted before."
It was an unusual light, seen in the skies over Europe, that constituted the "great sign" of Fatima in 1939.
